Working field: Our research is mainly focussed on Molecular Dynamics simulations of enzymatic systems combined with the computation of spectroscopic properties by means of Quantum Mechanical / Molecular Mechanical hybrid methods. The postdoctoral candidate will investigate at a computational level the structural and dynamical properties of large protein complexes such as those consisting of formate dehydrogenase and hydrogenase enzymes in tight collaboration with crystallographers and spectroscopic groups. Special emphasis will be made in investigating substrate diffusion in these biological complexes by simulating long time scale dynamics through classical molecular dynamics simulations combined with enhanced sampling techniques. This project is integrated in the Excellence Cluster “Unifying Systems in Catalysis”.
Requirements: Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) and PhD degree in physics, chemistry, biochemistry or in bioinformatiks; experience with computational methods such as classical molecular dynamics and enhanced sampling techniques; strong background in programming; and very good knowledge in the English language (written and spoken)
